The Nest tool window gives you information about current Nest and allows you to Rotate, Flip, and Center selected copies.

The first section contains information about the current Nest size.

If the nest is a hide, the Hide Area will be shown instead of the Nest Are.

The units for the Nested Length can be separately from the global setting. Click the dropdown arrow to select the desired units.

Flip, Rotate, Edit Flaws

Flip, rotate, and edit flaws buttons

Flip will flip a nested table of patterns vertically about the fabric centerline. Use this when you want to flip the material over and cut the nest on the back side of the material.

Rotate will rotate a table of patterns 180° about the center of the nest. Use this when a patterned material is coming off the roll in the opposite direction as expected. Camouflage materials can have this issue.

Edit Flaws will open up a window where you can enter the location and size of a rectangular shaped fabric flaws on the material. The X and Y location is the center of the flaw.

Flaws pop out menu

Flaws will display in the nesting view so you can nest around them. In Nestle mode, copies won’t be allowed to overlap a flaw. Autonesting will also place patterns around the flaws.

Example of a flaw in the nest

To remove a flaw, select the flaw from the Flaw dialog and click Remove or Remove All.

Copy Explorer

When no copies are selected, the Copy Explorer will display in place of Copy Layout and Copy Information. It will display a list of all copies in the current nest. You can search for a pattern and there is also a full Right-click context menu available.

Location

This is a pattern’s X and Y position in the Nest View.

Center Vertically allows you to center a single copy in the material width.

Rotation

A pattern’s rotation in the nest view is shown here. This value can be edited here. Make sure to verify that the pattern’s new rotation doesn’t cause overlaps with other patterns or cause the pattern to be out of bounds on the nest.

Flip

Flips pattern about a Horizontal or Vertical axis only in the Nest View. When you flip a pattern in the nest view, it will indicate the flip on the Project View. When you flip a copy in the nest view, an icon will appear on the pattern in the Project View. The pattern will now have a flip horizontal, flip vertical, or flip horizontal/vertical symbol at its center. **NOTE** When you flip a copy that includes text, the text will be printed backwards in the Nest View as an extra indication that the copy has been flipped. Text will always print normally.

All the symbols for when a pattern is flipped. Down arrow for vertical flip, right arrow for horizontal flip and both down and right arrow for both horizontal and vertical flip
