Cutting Speed Optimization
The Optimize tool modifies a pattern so it will cut more quickly and with smoother motion. It automatically breaks polylines at appropriate places, and replaces them with smooth elements – lines, arcs, notches, and either splines or Bezier curves.
We recommend that you try the tool in the Pattern Editor first before using the tool in the Project View, experimenting with configuration changes in the Setup section.
Here, on the Patterns Tab, you can optimize a group of selected patterns or, if no patterns are selected, optimize your entire project at once.
To use this tool, select the configuration that is right for your patterns. PatternSmith comes with five pre-defined cleanup configurations:
- Default: General purpose profile not tailored to any of the other use cases.
- ISO: Used to optimize imported Gerber files.
- AAMA1: Used to optimize imported AAMA DXF files from apparel software.
- AAMA Poly: Used to optimize imported AAMA DXF files that contain only polyline elements.
- CadShot Mobile: Used for cleaning up patterns captured with CadShot or CadShot Mobile.
- Simple: Used for a pattern with a single polyline perimeter. Can also be used with CadShot and CadShot Mobile.
You can also create custom configurations from the Setup button on the Pattern Editor’s Cut Ready tab. After selecting a configuration from the drop-down, click the Optimize button to create patterns with smoother elements.
