Projector Calibration
Setup
Discovery
Open Autometrix AmxDeviceConfig and choose your Vision System.
Once you choose your Vision System, you can change the IP address if needed. Click the Configure Network Settings button.
The projector, computer, and cutting machine need to be in the same IP range. Use a static IP address, DHCP is not recommended.
Record the IP address and using Motion Mechanics, add the IP to the cutting machine controller. You will need to change parameters 95, 96, 97, and 98.
For more assistance, contact Customer Support.
If you have multiple projectors, any projector’s IP address can be used.
Initial Projector Alignment
Make the projector as level as possible using a level on the hard plastic ring around the lens.
Continue adjusting the projector’s mount using the lines in the Test Card image to get the image as square and centered as possible.
Static Table or Over a Conveyor
Align the horizontal lines of the image with the X-axis of the cutting surface. Get the lines along the X-axis parallel with each other and the rails first. Then adjust the vertical lines with the Keystone adjustment in the projector.
Conveyor Pickup Position
Align the long axis of the image (across the Y-axis) with the gantry or drum and then adjust the horizontal lines with the Keystone adjustment in the projector.
Calibration
To calibrate a projector:
- Run Autometrix AmxDeviceConfig.
- Press the Configure Projector Controller button.
- Choose the appropriate projector mounting configuration.
Over Static Table Or Conveyor (Options 1 and 4)
- Set the projectors image size
This image will be projected onto the table.
Use the sliders to move the border as far as possible in the X and to the edges of the table in Y.
- Click Next.
- Measure the image. To get the most accurate measurement, put a piece of tape at each corner.
- Enter the measurements of the image in Image Width and Height. Additionally, enter the position for the low left corner from machine zero in X and Y. You can find those values by positioning the laser at home (0,0) and measuring from the laser (or pen for a Carbon) to the corner of the image.
- Click Next. then click Finish.
**NOTE** When the calibration process ends, the controller will be restarted automatically to ensure all settings are saved. Restart the controller manually if it doesn’t restart automatically.
- Run test patterns to check the accuracy of the calibration. It is sometimes necessary to adjust the Width/Height and position to get a more accurate result. If you are within 1/4” or less, that is acceptable.
Multiple Projectors Over Static Table (Option 2)
- Select the controllers. Make sure to select all controllers using the Ctrl key.
- Click Next.
- Drag the projector images into the correct location in the order they are located over the table.
- Click Next.
- Set the projectors image size.
This image will be projected onto the table.
Use the sliders to move the border as far as possible in the X and to the edges of the table in Y.
You can move between projectors using the horizontal slider bar.
- Click Next.
