Grid

The grid can be used to help visualize the size of patterns and as a drafting aid during pattern creation. Snapping to grid intersections is available by holding down the Ctrl Key.

Grid tools are available at the bottom of the Pattern Editor window.

Grid Preferences

Some of the preferences that are commonly used are described below. These can be found in Preferences under Pattern Editor.

Grid preferences

Exponential Scaling

Exponential Scaling will start with the Spacing defined and then change exponentially as the view is zoomed in and out. If Minimum is checked, the spacing will never get smaller than the Spacing value.

Normalized Interval Spacing

Normalized Interval Spacing is based on your screen size. The user can change the density (low, medium, high). As the view is zoomed, the grid density on the screen stays the same and the spacing values change

Show Backdrop on Labels

Create a backdrop behind the labels that blocks out what is underneath. When enabled you can set the Opacity of the background.
