Construction Details
Eclipse needs to know the number of awnings you plan on creating. This number dictates how many awnings need to be cut in PatternSmith. Enter that number where it says Quantity and individual pattern quotas will be changed.
Since each awning style requires different information, the Construction Details section will be different for each style. Some styles will require a selection for the side panels, or if the rafters will be between the frames or between the entire awning.
Rafter Locations
For all awning styles, Eclipse needs to know how many Rafters you want to use. Awnings with a round front (Domes, Clamshells, Convex Waterfalls) will place a fabric seam at each rafter location. Awnings with straight fronts place seams according to the fabric width found on the Fabric Properties section.
Input the number of rafters between the Design Frames, unless specified otherwise.
The Rafter Locations section will look different for each style or don’t even exist. However, this information will be similar for all styles.
Eclipse can plot rafter locations on the underside of each panel. Enter the total number of rafters and check the Plot Rafter Locations on Panel box.
Enter the location of each rafter, measured from the left side of the awning as you are facing the awning. If the spacing for the rafters is even, click Even Spacing after entering the number of rafters.
Create Rafter Lacing Strips creates a rectangular lacing strip pattern in PatternSmith.
Waterfall and Dome awnings include rafter locations as part of Construction details.
Wall Cutouts
Traditional and straight Waterfall awning styles include the ability to locate wall cutouts in the main portion of the awing. Enter the number of cutouts and the locations of the cutouts measured from the top left corner of the awning.
