Notches
In PatternSmith, notches are positioned relative to the start, midpoint, or end of the selected element. In addition, notches include properties such as style, placement, size, and the tool to be used for cutting. Each time you enter the editor, notch properties will start with your default values. You can change the default values from File > Preferences.
Single Notches
Single Notch allows you to place a notch anywhere on an element. You can manually place the notch or you can type in the distance where you want the notch. You can edit the Style, Placement, Width, Depth, if the distance is percentage or units, and the Tool it will use in the Tool Window on the right.
Midpoint Notches
Midpoint Notch allows you to place a notch at the midpoint of an element.
Evenly Spaced Notches
Evenly Spaced Notches allows you to place a notch or multiple notches evenly spaced on an element.
Anchors
Anchor Points are points, circles, or lines that are attached (anchored), evenly spaced, to an element. If the element moves or changes length, the anchor points remain attached to it and are redistributed as appropriate. You can change the Style, Tool, Radius, Distance from Start or End, and the Count of anchors.
